Over the past summer, Team 2468 worked with Cirrus Logic to run an outreach event for kids of employees. This was the first Kids in Engineering day held in the US. Around 100 students and 30 parent employees attended the event. Running projects ranging from paper-plate speakers to Arduino-based coding of LED lights, Team 2468 students mentored kids aging 5-15, giving many their first real STEM-related projects with tangible and fun results. We also were given the opportunity to demonstrate our own robots to introduce FIRST to the students and parents. More than 20 Team 2468 students volunteered, helping with everything from setup and take down, to aiding kids as they troubleshot coding issues. Overall, the kids and parents found the day extremely exciting and inspirational.
